Iced Tea Recipes


After yesterday's warm weather, I am craving a summer staple: iced tea. I came across these recipes and can't wait to try them!

~mint iced tea~

ingredients:
  • 1 qt water
  • 4 family size tea bags
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 bunch mint leaves & lemon slices for garnish
directions:
  • bring water to boil in large pot
  • remove from heat, add tea bags, cover with lid, and allow tea to steep in water for 20 minutes
  • take 1 gallon jug and pour the sugar into the jug and cover with hot tap water. stir sugar to dissolve while tea is steeping
  • once tea has steeped, remove lid and tea bags. pour tea into jug with sugar. stir
  • place tea bags back into jug. stir tea well, making sure sugar dissolves
  • fill jug with cold water to yield 1 gallon
  • to serve, pour each glass of tea and garnish with a slice of lemon and mint leaves
~pineapple cherry iced tea~
ingredients:
  • 1 gallon water
  • 6 tea bags
  • 2 jars maraschino cherries
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 6 cups pineapple juice
directions:

  • place water and tea bags in a large pot and bring to a boil
  • cover and allow to steep for 10 minutes
  • remove tea bags
  • drain cherry juice into the tea (reserve the cherries for garnishing)
  • add remaining ingredients to the tea and cherry juice mixture. stir thoroughly, making sure sugar dissolves completely
  • pour into a pitcher and allow to chill completely before serving
