Decorating With Everyday Items {in the kitchen}

I'm really trying to simplify our home and in doing so, have found that I love decorating with "everyday" items. It's nice to have those things you use everyday within arms reach, and I love the relaxed feeling it gives our home. You might be thinking that your everyday items aren't pretty enough to use as decor. Well, that's an easy fix!

For instance, instead of hiding your flour and sugar away in the cupboard, put these items in pretty glass canisters and sit them out on the counter. The same idea can be used for storing pasta, cereal, rice, etc. I'm using mason jars to store some of these items in our cupboards, but they would be equally as lovely sitting out. Show off your pretty dishes on open shelving in the kitchen or dining room.

Let fresh fruits and vegetables add color to your home. Find unique ways to display these fresh items.

Buy products that are pretty enough to leave out on the counter. As soon as we use up the not so pretty products we have now, I am replacing them with j.r. watkins, mrs. meyer's, or caldrea.

~Do you like using "everyday necessities" as part of your decorating?
I hope your week is off to a wonderful start!
